Personally I haven’t reacted just yet but have seen some substantial losses in both ranking and referral income, mainly the sites that ranked 1-2-3 all dropped to page two now back to page one again but not above the fold.

I’ve just tried removing all footer links in one particular site to see if it improves my ranking over the coming week, I’ll report back with my findings.

When telling his story one quote really stood out to me and reminded me of how I used to feel when I got my first job straight out of school.

Initially I tested Web Traffic Genius on just one blog/Money site and on the first day I was a bit shaky after seeing a substantial drop in my rankings for all keywords… scary right?

Well luckily for me it was only temporary (who knows what google’s up 2?) anyway I have found without a doubt that I have had an increase in rankings and relevancy. In fact one of my keywords I have not been able to get past the #7 mark because it is a keyword which is used frequently in Government and educational sites and they continue to publish new content daily.

Guess what? …. now I’m ranked #4 with 18 million results not a bad result at all, in one week I’ve seen a slight spike in traffic and I expect it to generate more sales.

For those of you who use Market samurai you will understand this extractbut for those who don’t click on this image to see a larger version and when you see green that means Good Green is increase in ranking. I saw a definate increase in all keywords… yep all keywords.

You can see from thsi graph the spike in this particular keyword.

My recommendation, try it out the new final beta version is coming out soon and promises to offer over 50 RSS aggregator sites and heaps of new features. If I were you I’d get hold of this version and learn  how to implement it before the new update.

There are so many great Premium WordPress themes that i don’t have time to go through them but I’m sure if you do some Googling you’ll find that there are basically just a few major players with iThemes being the best in my opinion.

If you just want to read “how to make a wordpress theme” then follow that link otherwise I’ll go into a little more detail for the rest of you. First of all I would recommend you have a look around and get an idea of what style of theme you want. I have a bookmark folder that i use and every time I land on WordPress theme site that I like I bookmark it for later.

You can usually find out exactly what theme the site uses by scrolling to the bottom of the page and checking the “powered by” section i the footer.

Following this link will take you to the site where you could purchase if you want, which is the best place to start from. Can you see where this is leading? basically the quickest and easiest way to learn how to make a wordpress theme is by purchasing a good theme and using their support system at the back end.

This should one of the primary factors when deciding which theme to purchase, you need a good community forum who specialise in that theme because you can believe if the theme has been around for a while (a) they will have ironed out the bugs and (b) Someone has already asked the same question your about to ask so you will either find the thread which deals with your issue or someone will be happy to show you what to do.

I personally use Ithemes because I find their service second to none and I’ve tried a few themes. You will find that within their system you can drop and drag your pieces together which means you don’t need to know any html or php or anything really its all done with WYSIWYG or what you see is what you get.

Finding the Right Search Engine Optimization marketing Tools

Knowing which tools to use is half the battle so lets talk a bit about what you want when analysing your Sites SEO status.

Building a Keyword list

Firstly we need to establish our “profitable keywords” not just high traffic keywords. You have three choices, you can choose to use some impressive tools which have been created to suit these exact purposes like keyword elite or you could outsource it to an SEO professional, that is if your too busy but your final option is cost efficient and that is to find similar tools which are free to use. Some great examples of this are Google’s keyword Tool another good one is Wordtracker there’s many more but you wont need them at this stage because all we want to do is establish a primary keyword list.

I personally recommend using Google’s keyword tool because you will also get access to the average CPC (Cost per Click) which gives you a fair indication of which keywords are most valuable and will in fact Convert better, and when your marketing you want to focus all your best efforts on the best keywords.

Now that you have established a good list of keywords we need to review our list for the best search engine optimization marketing effectiveness we can get.

Establishing your best keywords

Again there are many highly recommended tools for this process that you can purchase which will make your life so much easier and the one that stands out the most for me is market samurai hands down. Good news is the link I gave you there gives you a full 12 days free full use of market samurai. Here’s how we use it to establish profitable keywords in our list.

In this example I’ll use the phrase “SEO”. Now I’ve placed SEO into Market samurai’s keyword research tool and its given me a list of keywords that are associated with SEO. The first image is my list, now I can also just add my list of keywords that I have already gathered and analyse these and I recommend you do this so you can stay focused. Now the right image is the keywords after I have hit Analyze, as you can see it will give me an actual SEOV (search Engine Optimization value) and I can see straight away which keywords are the most profitable. In this example we have used Search Engine optimization marketing and you can see if we ranked number 1 for this search phrase that we would be receiving $13911 value in free exposure.

The Next thing we need to do is decide what keywords are viable for us to pursue.

SEO Competition

You could use market Samurai for this and I’ll show you quickly how but I don’t want this article to focus on Market Samurai. OK so within the same screen we simply hit the little key button.

And what you will get is a new page where you can enter your own URL or your competitors and compare it to your competition i.e. the top ten.

So here you can see your back-links, page titles, URL, PR etc. now we can focus on vulnerabilities in these websites and go after these. Ok enough about Market Samurai. There’s another great tool for this really cheap too, it’s called SEOCockpit I have been using this for a few weeks now and it enables me to produce summaries of my keywords and their movement. Yes put your competitors in this as well so you can see how you stack up against them, I only use the $10 per month plan and It works great.

Now for some free SEO tools to monitor your competition, SEO for FireFox is great! this enables you to go to any site at any time and Right click to look deep into the site and why it ranks well in Google.

Now all that’s left to do is see if you can get similar links or better links from the same sources, simple right? Dam straight, here’s an even better tool that’s avilable right now for free. I’m not sure if it will be free when you click on it but it was at the time of writing the article, its called “Rank decoding engine” this puppy will really make you smile this software will find the top authotrity sites in your niche and list them for you so all you have to do to beat your competition is become an authority by develping great content for these sites. Dont stress if you can’t get a link on all opf these but do as many as you can and Always use anchor text where you can. I highly recommend you download that software.

Generating backlinks is good SEO

I’m not going to recommend any article writing websites because I haven’t had much success personally and prefer to write my own content, however if you generate some good articles and place them on the top ranked websites for your niche using the Rank decoding engine as described above then you will get some great PR flowing to your site. When it comes to back-links you cant go past directories and the latest one I’ve been using is Directory maximiser these guys are super cheap great to deal with and have no minimums so you can submit to 10 or 2000 directories if you want and unlike other directories they will credit you if a directory doesn’t accept your submission. cant go wrong.

Don’t freek out when you see that your PR hasn’t increased because Google only updates PR 2-3 times per year and it doesn’t mean that you aren’t getting the respect you deserve.
